Greetings to all,
It is with profound regret that we must announce the postponement of MondoCon this year. The reasons are myriad, but at the root was the loss of our primary venue, through no fault of Great Escape Games owner Gary Lane. The city simply made it too expensive and convoluted to pursue the plan. We priced the show to work at GEG, so moving it became problematic, and while I am willing to work full time to create these play opportunities for the community, I simply can't afford to lose thousands on what was just going to be a simple weekend of gaming. I also want to thank Kevin Ellingson and especially Jeffrey Skidmore for all the work they put into planning. They did what they could to make this work, but it was the loss of the venue that really killed it, and I held out hope for finding another solution, and this time, none was to be had.
For those of you who have made hotel reservations, please call and cancel those reservations right away. There will be no penalty for the cancellation according to the Marriott's reservation policy. If you wait too long that may not be the case.
For those of you who have paid for MondoCon in advance you have two choices.
1) Write me back at mondo (at) avalongamecon (dot) com and ask for a refund. We will process these as we get them each evening.
2) Write me back at mondo (at) avalongamecon (dot) com and ask to swap out for a ConQuest SAC ticket for next March instead. The current price for CQ SAC is $25, so most of you will get a deal at only $20. And the price for SAC goes up on December 1 to $35, so the savings is significant.
As a company, well, as me, we are good with either option...just pick the path that makes the most sense to you. And so there is no misunderstanding, please do not construe my decision not to engage in discussions about business matters in a public forum as disinterest. There are the proper channels and venues for such discussions, and only one person knows the real facts, so everything else is speculation, with all due respect.
Again, my sincerest regrets, and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
